A new form of lighting that is neither Japanese nor Western
This is a frameless, floor-standing cylindrical bonbori light that combines the traditional techniques of Kyo Hyogu, a craft that has been practiced since the Nara period (710-794), with origami.
Origami is a traditional Japanese craft with a history of over 300 years.
The traditional patterns printed on thin, light, and strong karakami, which has been improved over and over again, by Kyoto karakami artists on woodblocks, come to life in a shimmering manner.
When lit, the patterns instantly transform into shadows, inviting the viewer into a world of fantasy.
“Hosouzu” is an auspicious traditional pattern that symbolizes the flow of water, light, and energy.
“Shippo” means seven treasures in Buddhist terminology, and the circular shapes are connected to each other and continue forever.
There are various types of cloisonne enamel patterns: “broken cloisonne enamel” has a pattern of partially connected circles, while “small cloisonne enamel” has a small cloisonne enamel pattern painted on the entire surface.
The Bonbori tutu series is available in three patterns and three sizes.
