This Hon-aizome birth celebratory set includes baby clothes, a pair of socks, and a face towel made of organic cotton, dyed with the blessings of nature using a traditional method that has been practiced since the Edo period in Tokushima Prefecture, the birthplace of indigo dyeing, without using any chemical dyes.
The color of indigo becomes darker as the dyeing process is repeated.
Among the various names given to indigo according to its hue, Aeru has chosen the color “aikachi iro,” which is said to bring good luck because it is written with the character for “win.
It is a darker and deeper indigo color than navy blue. Craftsmen carefully repeat dyeing one by one, checking the dyeing condition over several days.
